JOB DESCRIPTION: Designer – Mechanical
This position is located in Wallingford, CT.
Prepare conceptual design layouts of complex mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. Incorporate/process engineering change notices (ECN's) as required; utilize knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, design standards, etc. to produce conceptual design layouts based on input from engineering; Generate documentation as required utilizing appropriate CAD system; may be asked to direct the work of, provide technical assistance to and check the work of drafters during the completion cycle of the documentation package.
High School diploma or GED. Certificate of completion from certified drafting program plus some college level study in engineering and mathematics. Ten years' minimum design/drafting experience including at least 3 years of design experience developing engineering layouts. Proficient in geometric tolerancing per ANSI Y14.5 & ASME Y14.5M-1994, proficient in use of SolidWorks and AUTOcad, thorough knowledge of MIL-STD-100, DOD 1000, knowledge of product line, materials, processes, adhesives, and coatings, Communication skills required to interface effectively with other departments/vendors.
