- William E. Turner
- President
- William Turner is President of APS Technology and has been actively engaged in the practice of product support engineering for 38 years. His particular expertise is the design of equipment for harsh environments. Prior to founding APS Technology in 1993, he led the product improvement efforts of Teleco Oilfield Services (the company that developed the first successful Measurement While Drilling tools) for eleven years as Director of Engineering. These efforts, through coordination of worldwide engineering teams, consistently resulted in improved reliability and reduced lifetime product cost. William has also led the development and deployment teams for a complete line of horizontal drilling mud motors. He also has considerable experience in the design of rotating equipment for power generation and for gas compression, and has specialized in the design of equipment for harsh environments.
- Denis Biglin
- Senior Vice President
- Denis Biglin joined APS in 1996, and has 24 years of experience in MWD, LWD and downhole tool design, development and manufacturing with APS Technology, Baker Hughes INTEQ and Teleco Oilfield Services. Mr. Biglin has 6 patents and his experience includes development, testing and commercialization of steerable drilling motors, wave propagation resistivity, neutron porosity and gamma density MWD tools, and development of proprietary rotary shoulder connections for both MWD tools and mud motors. Denis started his carreer in the oilfield as an MWD/LWD field engineer and gained international experience managing the engineering and production departments for Baker Hughes INTEQ's Regional Repair Center in Singapore.
- Ralph F. Spinnler
- Chairman, Board of Directors
- Mr. Spinnler was a founder of Teleco Oilfield Services Inc. in 1972 and served as General Manager, then as President and CEO until the acquisition of Teleco by Baker Hughes in 1992. Mr. Spinnler served as a Director of Numar Corporation until it was acquired by Halliburton in 1998. He then served as an advisory director reporting to senior management at Halliburton. Mr. Spinnler has been a Director of APS since 1998, and presently is responsible for strategic planning, the Business Plan and Second Stage financing. As Chairman, he provides executive leadership for planning, organizing and managing the company.
- Mark Hutchinson
- Chief Technology Officer
- Mark Hutchinson has over thirty years of experience working for an oil company, and in both the petrophysical and drilling service industries. He holds a Masters Degree in Engineering from Cambridge, England. Prior to joining APS he worked on drilling rigs, in sales and marketing, managed Conoco's drilling research facility, was globally responsible for Eastman-Teleco MWD products, and more recently worked as an independent consultant providing drilling forensics services for oil companies. He holds various data processing and apparatus patents. At APS he is responsible for developing and managing joint industry projects.
- Martin E. Cobern
- Vice President, Research & Development
- Dr. Cobern has over thirty years of experience in the development of downhole sensors and systems and holds nine patents in the field. Prior to joining APS, he was Vice President, Research at Teleco Oilfield Services. In that position, he directed the development of all of the sensors for Teleco's logging-while-drilling system, the surface systems and software. He holds a BS from the Cooper Union in New York City and a Ph.D. from Yale University, both in Physics. At APS, he is responsible for the development and commercialization of the company's proprietary products and technology.
- Christopher Abbamonte
- Vice President, Operations
- Chris Abbamonte joined APS Technology in 2006. Prior to joining APS he spent 6 years as a Senior Commercial Banker at First International Bank, specializing in financing manufacturers. His expertise includes structuring financing transactions aimed at maximizing cash flow in rapidly expanding companies. He has a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Connecticut and a Master's of Science in Accounting & Taxation from The University of Hartford. His responsibilities at APS include management and oversight of all procurement, production and distribution functions.
- Lawrence Weiner
- Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs
- Mr. Weiner has substantial senior management and corporate counsel experience in the energy and other industries. He has been associated with APS since 2002 and also served as Vice President and General Counsel at Teleco Oilfield Services, Inc., through its acquisition by Baker Hughes.
- Carl A. Perry, P.E.
- Vice President, Engineering and Quality Assurance
- Mr. Perry joined APS in 2001, and guides the daily efforts of the engineering and quality staffs. He has more than 28 years of experience engineering equipment and complex systems for hazardous and harsh environments. Over 12 years at Teleco Oilfield Services, Mr. Perry rose to Director of Downhole Mechanical Systems. In this position, he managed a group of specialized engineers in the design of MWD equipment and components, including high-pressure connectors, ruggedized electronic packaging, gamma detectors, resistivity and nuclear logging tools. He also has considerable experience in the design of pumps, seals and components for extreme environments. Mr. Perry holds fourteen patents and continues develop innovative solutions to technical problems.
- Craig Brown
- Vice President, Sales – Western Region
- Mr. Brown has 30 years of experience in a variety of engineering, applications engineering, sales, operations and product line management positions in the downhole drilling tool business with Reed Tool Company, Andergauge Drilling Systems and National Oilwell Varco. Additionally, Mr. Brown was active in the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the American Association of Drilling Engineers, where he served on the technical program committee and held leadership positions for many years. He joined APS Technology in the Houston office in 2006. Mr. Brown is principally responsible for the management of Western Region Sales and certain key national accounts.
- Paul J. G. Seaton
- Vice President, Sales – Eastern Region
- Paul Seaton has nearly 30 years of experience in the oilfield services sector encompassing field engineering, marketing and sales, product line and operations management, mostly with Teleco Oilfield Services and then Baker Hughes. Mr. Seaton's experience includes development, testing and commercialization of many MWD/LWD systems, including gamma ray, wave propagation resistivity, neutron porosity and gamma density MWD/LWD tools. He is an honors graduate of Aberdeen University (Scotland) and has extensive experience in all aspects of Drilling, MWD and LWD and is co-author of two U.S. patents. Mr. Seaton is principally responsible for the management of Eastern Region Sales and certain key national accounts.
- Dirk Bosman
- Region Manager, Asia Pacific / Middle East / North Africa
- Dirk Bosman joined APS in September, 2008 and is based in Dubai where he is responsible for the Asia Pacific / Middle East / North Africa Region and the APS Dubai support centre. Mr. Bosman started his career in the oilfield services sector in 1988 with Teleco and has since worked for both Baker Hughes and DuPont. His experience includes the testing and product launching of LWD and rotary steerable systems, operations, and product line management. He is a graduate of Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand and holds a BSc in Chemistry. Mr. Bosman has worked in various international locations and has been based in the Middle East and Asia Pacific since 1993.
- Robert T. Kramer Jr.
- Controller
- Mr. Kramer has over 28 years of experience in the areas of financial reporting, general accounting and collections. Prior to joining APS Technology, Bob worked for GTE Telephone in the telecommunication industry and was Controller for Executone Information Systems in the healthcare industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport, Connecticut. As Controller, he assumes all financial and accounting responsibilities for APS.
- Ron Seppa
- Design Engineering Manager
- Mr. Seppa has more than forty years experience in the area of design engineering. Prior to joining APS, Ron was increasing his design knowledge with Baker Hughes INTEQ, Teleco Oilfield Services, and Pratt & Whitney Aircraft where he was responsible for the production of conceptual layouts of new products and the direction of the generation of new designs.
- Mark Wassell
- Analytical Engineering Manager
- Mr. Wassell is recognized as a leading expert in drilling dynamics with over twenty years of oilfield experience. He has developed both downhole tools for measuring drilling dynamics as well as novel downhole tools that mitigate the effects of shock and vibration. Mark is also responsible for developing the WellDesigner suite of drilling software used within the industry for optimizing drilling performance. He is also involved in APS's Rotary Steerable Motor development as well as providing consulting services for rotary steerable tools. Mark has been granted numerous patents as well as publish several technical papers. Prior to joining APS he worked for Ingersol-Rand, Teleco and Baker Hughes Inteq.
- Ronald J. Deady
- Senior Petrophysicist
- Ron has 29 years of experience working in the service sector of the petroleum industry with a primary focus in the development and commercialization of Logging While Drilling (LWD), formation evaluation services and applications. Prior to joining APS Ron was the Vice President of Operations for Navigate Energy Services, before that he was the Global Petrophysics Manager for Halliburton - Sperry Drilling Services. Ron began his career as a field engineer for Anadrill Schlumberger later moving to Teleco Oilfield Services. At Teleco, later becoming Baker Hughes INTEQ, Ron held various positions including the role of Field Test Engineer and Project Petrophysicist. Ron joined Halliburton in 1996 as the Product Champion for LWD acoustics later moving on to be the Asia/Pacific Regional Petrophysics Manager. Ron has a BS degree in Geology from Northern Illinois University is a holder of two US patents related to LWD and has authored and co-authored numerous papers and publications related to LWD technologies and applications. Ron is a member of the SPE, SPWLA & SEG.
- Brian Stroehlein
- Marketing Director / Program Manager
- Mr. Stroehlein has thirty years of experience in the MWD/LWD, telecommunications, and semiconductor industries, including seven years in product support engineering and manufacturing management at Teleco. He is responsible for marketing management as well as the WPR and other development programs at APS. As a product line manager in the telecommunications industry, he co-authored several papers and articles on business and technical topics, and spoke and moderated panel discussions at industry conferences around the world. Mr. Stroehlein holds a BSEE from Cornell University and an MBA from University of Connecticut, and has been awarded a patent for a noise reduction method.
- Bob Joyce
- Program Manager
- Bob Joyce joined APS in April of 2010 to assist in the Rotary Steerable Motor development and commercialization. With thirty years of experience in the oil and gas service sector, Bob has a broad experience base in upstream operations and technology development. Bob started as a field engineer for Schlumberger wireline in Canada and moved into product development for both wireline and LWD at Baker Hughes' headquarters in Houston in 1991. Bob managed the acoustic and seismic evaluation programs for both of these divisions and also moved to the marketing team to complete the new product rollout. Bob has also worked with other independent startup companies wishing to develop and commercialize sensor related products, such as MicroTesla. Bob has a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick in Canada.
- Maria Pangakis, SPHR
- Human Resources Manager
- Prior to joining APS, Ms. Pangakis gained Human Resources experience working at Connecticut-based divisions of Danaher Corporation and Johnson & Johnson. She has earned an MBA from the University of Hartford as well as HR Management Certifications from the Human Resource Certification Institute and St. Joseph College. Ms. Pangakis is responsible for all aspects of HR for APS, including recruiting, safety, benefits, training, health and wellness and employee relations.
