APS Technology has developed a Rotary Pulser compatible with any MWD sensor package. The pulser is electrically activated and uses an oscillatory rotary motion to create positive pressure pulses. Pulse height is adjustable by altering the rotation pattern of the moving vanes. The open flow path design greatly reduces the possibility of jamming with most lost circulation materials.

The APS Rotary Pulser is available in retrievable and fixed-mount versions. The retrievable Pulser is equipped with a fishing head for retrieval using conventional wireline equipment. The fixed model is hard-mounted to a flow sub at the top of the MWD tool. Routine maintenance and any necessary parts replacement can be easily completed under rig site conditions, with minimal support equipment.
