APS is pleased to announce that it has finalized an agreement with Specialized Petroleum Technologies LLC to serve as APS’ authorized channel partner and representative in the Republic of Azerbaijan. In this very important role, SPT will supply customers with critical equipment, workshop tooling and spare parts for a wide range of APS’s MWD / LWD and RSS product lines.
APS Technology, Inc. today announced the successful deployment of the SureSteer™-RSS™ 475 Rotary Steerable System with the SureLog WPR™ Wave Propagation Resistivity, SureShot™ Gamma Sensor, and SureShot™ Digital Directional Sensor in Western Siberia by IDS Navigator service company. The RSS™ bottomhole assembly was selected to complete a 155.6mm lateral well section when a steerable motor assembly lost its steerability 800m into the section. A final 213m was successfully steered and drilled in 8.6 hours, averaging 24 m/hr.

APS Technology, Inc. (“APS”) today announced the addition of Imaging Density Neutron Standoff Caliper (“iDNSCTM”) and Imaging Pay Zone Inclination Gamma (“iPZIGTM”) sensor technology to its product portfolio. The iDNSC and the near bit iPZIG, originally developed and marketed under the Pathfinder brand, are proven technologies and the measurements they deliver are accepted by operators worldwide. Through a licensing agreement with Schlumberger, APS will manufacture, supply and support iDNSC and iPZIG as fully integrated elements of APS’ SureLog™ LWD and SureSteer-RSS systems.
An Operator in Oklahoma had a requirement to identify the location of a specific bed boundary and stay in a particular zone of interest just above that boundary in a horizontal well. Cathedral Energy Services elected to use the APS SureLog™ AZG sensor along with the APS SureLog™ DG MWD system to meet their customer’s reservoir positioning challenges. The 4 ¾” SureLog™ AZG employs 3 shielded gamma ray detectors that are used to attain a 24-bin high resolution gamma ray image in memory while providing 4-bin image data in real-time for well bore positioning.
OILSERV were very satisfied with the support given by APS on a recent high profile job in Iraq. The job was completed using a 9.5” SureShot™ EM DG MWD tool drilling the 26” section from vertical to 24 degrees inclination at section TD (100-524m). The tool was then picked up again for the next 17.5” section to continue building to 55 degrees inclination at the section TD (524-1354m). A total of 1254m was drilled in a total of 312 circulating hours over 3 runs.
Wallingford, CT, USA - 8 August, 2017 – APS Technology Inc. today announced the successful deployment of the SureSteer™-RSS™ 475 Rotary Steerable System with the SureLog-WPR™ Wave Propagation Resistivity sensor in Western Siberia. The directional staff drilled a re-entry well and, with the RSS475, was able to maintain the target inclination and azimuth in the lateral and, when needed, corrected the steering course of the wellbore in response to the real-time gamma and resistivity logs.
Wallingford, CT, USA - 7 July, 2017 - APS Technology would like to congratulate Scott Burch, owner and field superintendent of SB Directional on recently completing their first geosteered lateral using the APS WPR resistivity LWD tools. This 4500’ lateral evaluated the Woodford shale and Kinderhook formations in Dewey County, OK. The job, supported by both APS Technology and SB Directional personnel, had zero downtime associated with the WPR tool strings and also utilized the new APS Advanced Decoding System (ADS), which provided excellent / trouble free decoding.
