APS Technology's ADS, Advanced Decoding System, and WPR Resistivity Tools Successfully Used by SB Directional to Drill Horizontal Well in Oklahoma

Wallingford, CT, USA - 7 July, 2017 - APS Technology would like to congratulate Scott Burch, owner and field superintendent of SB Directional on recently completing their first geosteered lateral using the APS WPR resistivity LWD tools. This 4500’ lateral evaluated the Woodford shale and Kinderhook formations in Dewey County, OK. The job, supported by both APS Technology and SB Directional personnel, had zero downtime associated with the WPR tool strings and also utilized the new APS Advanced Decoding System (ADS), which provided excellent / trouble free decoding. Gamma ray along with both 400 kHz and 2 MHz phase WPR resistivity measurements were telemetered to provide deep depths of investigation and early bed boundary detection for geosteering.

SB Directional is an OKC based directional company that was formed in 2014 and principally provides directional services to the Oklahoma based independent operators exploring the Scoop and Stack plays.

APS Technology builds MWD & LWD systems for the independent directional drilling market. With over 700 WPR tools in service worldwide, the APS WPR propagation resistivity tool gives our customers the opportunity to compete for LWD work previously handled almost exclusively by the major service companies. The ADS system was developed to support the needs for higher data rates required as drill rates have increased and many companies are moving to running logging tools that provide more information than commodity based DG systems.
