Drilling Test Facility

The Drilling Test Facility at our Wallingford, CT headquarters is built for:

  • Customer training for rigsite drill string assembly, tool configuration and data retrieval, tool operation in-hole and surface system operation
  • APS design qualification testing and continuous improvement

Schramm T130XD Drill Rig

  • 130,000 lb (59,090 kg) pullup / 32,000 lb (14,500 kg) pulldown
  • 106,600 in-lb (12,045 N-m) drilling torque
  • 28 in. (711 mm) table opening
  • 50 ft. (15.25 m) top drive travel
  • NC40 top drive thread
  • 0 - 143 RPM, infinitely variable
  • 3 in. dia. spindle thru-hole
  • Deck engine: 760 bhp (567 kW); 2,188 ft-lb (2,967 N-m)

Schramm LoadSafe Pipe Handling System

  • 5,000 lb (2,268 kg) lift capacity
  • Enables hands-free pick-up and lay-down of the drill string

TSC Offshore Corp. WF700 Triplex Pump

  • Up to 640 gpm @ 1,715 psi (40.4 l/sec @ 11.8 MPa)
  • Up to 375 gpm @ 2,500 psi (23.7 l/sec @ 17.2 MPa)

Wireline Cabin

  • Cable length 4,000 ft. (1,219.2 m) with 7 conductor-braided inner core communication cable
  • Lift capacity 8,000 lbs (3,629 kg)

Driller's Mud Systems, LLC Mud Cleaning and Mixing System

  • 200 bbl / 8,400 gal tank; paired with a 220 bbl / 9,240 gal reserve tank for 420 bbl / 17,640 total fluid capability
  • Meshes from 10 to 325 gage, and 25 micron / 500 gpm Krebs cone
  • High-volume bentonite hopper

Test Boreholes

Borehole 1:

  • 10-3/4 in. (27.3 cm) surface casing to 1,100 ft. (335.3 m) and 2,000 ft. (609.6 m) of 8-3/4 in. (22.2 cm) open hole
  • Borehole depth of 3,100 ft. (944.9 m)

Borehole 2 – Formation Test Cellar:

  • 16 in. (40.6 cm) surface casing to 100 ft. (30.5 m) used for testing in a variety of formations

Borehole 3 (In Progress):

  • 10-3/4 in. (27.3 cm) surface casing to 40 ft., 7-5/8 in. (12.4 m) well casing to 1,100 ft. and 6-1/2 in. (335.4 m) uncased borehole to 1,400 ft. (426.7 m)
