OILSERV were very satisfied with the support given by APS on a recent high profile job in Iraq. The job was completed using a 9.5” SureShot™ EM DG MWD tool drilling the 26” section from vertical to 24 degrees inclination at section TD (100-524m). The tool was then picked up again for the next 17.5” section to continue building to 55 degrees inclination at the section TD (524-1354m). A total of 1254m was drilled in a total of 312 circulating hours over 3 runs. Air drilling was used through the 26” hole section (60 gpm mud, 4500 SCFM air and 0.7% foam; Flow Rate Equivalent = 660 GPM) and an aerated mud system was a contingency for the entire 17.5” but never being used. The 17.5” section was drilled with 8.6 to 9 ppg MMO mud for 830m while continuous partial losses were experienced until section TD. Throughout the entire well the EM tool provided OILSERV with stable and predicted performance. OILSERV Operations personnel commented that they were impressed with APS SureShot™ EM DG MWD system in what were very challenging drilling conditions.
